NALERIGU SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL HOSTS VEEP ON ITS 5Oth ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS.

HIS EXCELLENCY, THE VICE PRESIDENT, SHAKING HANDS WITH PARADED STUDENTS.

The Nalerigu Senior High School (NASS) in the North East Region of Ghana, celebrated its 50th anniversary on the 19th of August 2023, under the theme “50 YEARS OF CONTRIBUTING TO SECONDARY EDUCATION IN GHANA, HONOURING OUR PAST AND EMBRACING OUR FUTURE”.
The school was finally established in 1972, as known today, after going through some cycles of academic statuses as an educational institution.
His Excellency, the Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu. Bawumia, graced the occasion as Special Guest of Honour.
He, in his address to the audience, expressed delight in being part of the programme and conveyed His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s felicitations to the school on its silver anniversary.
He added that 50 years in the life of any establishment is worth celebrating, hence the need for the occasion.
He noted that the school, since its establishment has churned out very influential, prolific and industrious products, who have served and are currently serving in Government, Academia and the private sector, contributing immensely to national development.
Mention was made of the likes of Hon. Inusah Fuseini, who has served in various capacities in Government and Parliament, Professor Kwara Nantomah, Dean of Mathematical Sciences at C.K Tedam University of Sciences in Navrongo amongst others, who are proud products of the school.
He proceeded to fondly recount the efforts that were made to establish NASS before 1972, of which his father, Mr. Mumuni Bawumia, the then Regional Commissioner for Tamale, played very instrumental roles in the school’s establishment.

The Regional Minister, Hon. Zakaria Yidana, expressed acknowledgement of gratitude to all who have and who are still doing their best to ensure the smooth management of the school.
The occasion drew various categories of dignitaries in the Region ranging from the Heads of Regional MDAs, CSOs,NGOs, Political party functionaries, Security Service Commanders, past students of the school, former headmasters among others.

The occasion was chaired by the Mamprugu Traditional Council’s Representative, Chief Mba Tarana on behalf of the Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, who welcomed all attendees to Nalerigu and expressed well wishes to the school and gathering in the celebrations.
