STAKEHOLDER SENSITTISATON WITH OWNERS OF SMALL AND MEDIUM SCALE ENTERPRISES IN NORTH EAST REGION.

A team, comprising a high-powered representatives from the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Trade and Industry paid a working visit to the North East Region on 6th September 2024, the team engaged with owners of diverse Small  and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in the Region, under the theme: SME GROWTH AND OPPORTUNITY( SME GO) PROGRAMME.

Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu Abudu,  Technical Advisor to Ministry of Finance (MOF) , and Mr. Benjamin Torsah-Klu, Chief Economic Officer, (MOF).
Mr. Isaac Nimako, Director of the MSME, Ghana Enterprises Agency.

In his welcome address to participants, the Honourable Regional Minister, Mr. Yidana Zakaria, commended the team for taking the laudable initiative to sensitise owners of SMEs on opportunities available to access for the growth of their businesses, which by extension inures to the general growth of the country’s economy, hence the socioeconomic livelihoods of the Ghanaian citizens. He added that the NPP Government has always had the key priority to roll out social and flagship programmes to that will eventually translate into social, economic and political stability to the good of all and sundry, and which every Ghanaian so dearly expects and endear.
Dr. Abdul-Ganiyu, the team leader, in addressing participants, indicated that, the whole idea of Region -Region sensittisaton tours was to promote and enhance financial literacy, provide information on accessing financial support, provide employable skills to boost economic productivity and development and to monitor and provide other technical support to consolidate or reinforce the realization of the objectives of the theme: BREAKING BARRIERS TO SME GROWTH.
The theme, according to him, seeks to build a prosperous economy through a robust SME, creating jobs by providing opportunities to access to finance and growth of local businesses.

Mr. Isaac Nimako, taking his turn to address participants, mentioned that the current current programme is the largest SME financial intervention and initiative programme in the country’s history, which One Billion and Four Million Ghana Cedis is being spent on.
He took participants through procedures of accessing support from the programme to grow their businesses.
