NORTH EAST REGIONAL COORDINATING COUNCIL (NERCC) HOLDS ITS 2ND COUNCIL MEETING ON 8TH DECEMBER 2022
The Office of the North East Regional Coordinating Council has held its 2nd Council Meeting on Thursday, 8th December 2022 at its newly commissioned office complex. The Council consist of all six Hon Municipal and District Chief Executives and their Coordinating Directors, Hon Presiding Members, Heads of Departments and Agencies and the Traditional Authorities.The Regional Minister in his address to the Council lauded the government for the many interventions it has brought on board to nurture the young Region to blossom. This he said included the numerous infrastructural Projects across the various sectors of the economy i.e. roads, education, agriculture, health, security, sanitation etc. He also told the Council that most of the decentralized Regional Department offices were in their completion stages.He however called on the stakeholders especially the technocrats to help address some of the challenges that the Region was currently facing. Among these was the high incidence of teenage pregnancies. He called on School authorities, chiefs, parents and teachers to take immediate steps to reverse this trend.The Hon. Regional Minister who also chairs the Council entreated Chief Executives to support the government’s fight against smuggling of food stuffs through the country’s boarders.
